2015 List of Philippine Holidays Released

About five months before the start of 2015, the Philippine Goverment, through their official website,  announced on July 23, 2014 the holidays and special non-working days for the coming year. President Benigno S. Aquino III signed Proclamation No. 831 declaring 18 public holidays for next year.

The regular holidays are as follows:

January 1, Thursday – New Year’s Day

April 2, Thursday – Maundy Thursday

April 3, Friday – Good Friday

April 9, Thursday – Araw ng Kagitingan

May 1, Friday – Labor Day

June 12, Friday – Independence Day

August 31, Last Monday of the month – National Heroes Day

November 30, Monday – Bonifacio Day

December 25, Friday – Christmas Day

December 30, Wednesday – Rizal Day Special

The special non-working days are as follows:

February 19, Thursday – Chinese New Year

April 4 (Saturday) – Black Saturday

August 21 (Friday) – Ninoy Aquino Day

January 2 (Friday) – Additional special non-working days

December 24 (Thursday) – Additional special non-working days

December 31 (Thursday) – Last Day of the Year

February 25, the EDSA Revolution Anniversary, shall also be a special holiday for all schools.

A separate proclamation declaring special holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha is yet to be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar, lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible and convenient.

Based on the proclamation, there will be 9 long weekends to look forward to:

January 1 to 4, 2015 – New Year

April 3 to 6, 2015 – Holy Week

May 1 to 3, 2015 – Labor Day

June 12 to 14, 2015 – Independence Day

August 21 to 24, 2015 – Ninoy Aquino Day

August 29 to 31, 2015 – National Heroes Day

November 28 to 30, 2015 – Bonifacio Day

December 24 to 27, 2015 – Christmas Day

December 30, 2015 to January 3, 2016 – Rizal Day and New Year
